Baber assists lawyers and law firms with:

  • Reviewing and assisting tax lawyers in all aspects of tax dispute resolution and litigation matters
  • Preparing preliminary submissions on audits, objections, appeals, collections, and applications for taxpayer relief, voluntary disclosure, and tax residency determination
  • Managing Tax Court of Canada files: Preparation of pleadings, book of documents, list of documents, and litigation timetables
  • Communicating with agents of the Canada Revenue Agency, Department of Justice, Tax Court of Canada, and the Federal Court regarding ongoing client mandates
  • Preparing documentation relating to corporate maintenance and governance, including incorporations, organizations, amendments, continuance and revivals, dissolutions, reorganizations, including tax reorganizations, share and asset purchase transactions
  • Attending to requirements under the Business Corporations Act (Ontario) and Canada Business Corporations Act (CBCA), including government filings and registrations, extra-provincial and business name registrations
  • Conducting corporate tax compliance and regular review and analysis of minute book records
  • Managing and maintaining updated corporate records and internal databases

Baber’s Experience:
